You can take the Jew out of the shtetl but you can't take the shtetl out of theJew. The Village will obviously do nothing about the petition. Thinking that the Czar overseeing the the Scarsdale shtetl will listen to the residents is an illusion and a waste of our efforts. As you may remember from Jewish folklore, the village of Chelm was comprised of simple minded people, governed by bumbling idiots. Scarsdale volunteer politicians are supporting the "Czar". If it weren't so tragic, it would be comical. - Rochel from the Scarsdale shetl

                                                    THE LAST TANGO

Some residents of Scarsdale including many who signed Ruth Frankel's petition were angered when they read about the Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, October 15. They were unaware that there was such a meeting! It appears that there was little or no advanced notification regarding the meeting. This suggests an intentional desire to suppress our viewpoints while giving the Village and the Board license continue with "business as usual".

Your October 18 article mentioned that residents had either lost interest in the topics of stormwater management, zoning and building or had had their problems solved. This is simply FALSE! Problems have not been properly addressed. Had we all known about the meeting, we would have all been there!!!

On a positive note, we understand that a trustee recommended that an outside (of Scarsdale) mediator be brought in to help with our disputes. We strongly support this idea.

The residents of Scarsdale remind the Village Trustees and management that the petition has still not been addressed and with the increasing rate of development within the Village, more residents are stepping forward to complain. As taxpayers in this non-partisan democratic village, we feel entitiled to be a full partner in this LAST TANGO. - A Group of Scarsdale Residents
