Do my fellow citizens agree?

No.

I am sure the Scarsdale police would be happy to deal with criminals like the one in this story... except, of course, that the part of Garth Road described here is in Eastchester, and the people who ticket cars in the village, although they may be employees of the police department, aren't actually police officers. The cops are off doing more important things.

Ticketing parking violators may annoy some, but it is part of the Scarsdale PD's job. Solving muggings in Eastchester is not. - Scarsdale?

This is a horrendous crime, and it can happen anywhere at any time, but I wish all of you to consider:

If you are two minutes late on your meter in the village, or leave your parking pass in the wrong car at Freightway that with virtual certainty you will be ticketed. Our inspection and registration checks a la the Iron Curtain are likewise well known.

Why does the Scarsdale police department work so diligently on such matters when an incident like this can occur. you can be sure that however many tens of thousands of dollars from zero-toleance parking enforcement cannot come near the cost of a single crime such as a mugging in ur community.

It is time for the Scarsdale police to reassess their priorities. - do my fellow citizens agree?
