I think it's awesome that Brett has set out to do this. As a golf widow, I feel for you ( most of don't have time during the school year to hang out at the club - we're too busy being de facto single moms) because it takes a tremendous amount of time. Which is why I know several 40 something dudes bitten by the ultra - athlete bug, but i only know one woman (and that was only for the year she was unemployed) - Hi

To Triathlete widow: Yay for you and your husband! As one friend told me, triathlons are not spectator sports, but we do the best we can to cheer them on and be supportive. Haven't experienced an urban adventure race yet...should I be worried...?! - jgerstenblatt

Loved your article! Finally, a kindred spirit as I too am a triathlete widow. Like you, it most definitely did not start that way 20+ years ago. The training really introduces your relationship to realms of patience and understanding many will never know. I am also my Husband's number one fan and while I've considered from time to time what it might be like to be married to someone who doesn't cycle up and down Bear Mountain or compete in 24 hour Urban Adventure Races just for "fun", I realized I would be missing out on our what's become own adventure. Thanks for sharing! - Proud Triathlete Widow
