Letter from Edgemont Resident re: Dromore Road

E-mail Print PDF

letterThe Dromore Road case shines a halogen light on the Greenburgh administration's lack of internal controls; abject arrogance-second to none- engaging in breaches of ethics, sometimes bordering on criminality; pushing boundaries without consequence with impunity, and an attitude of "we can have our cake, eat it and not gain any weight."

Mr.. Feiner's rejoinder to anyone challenging him is,"sue me." What he knows is an article 78 action involves incurring legal fees of several thousand dollars which may or may not be awarded if the petitioner wins. So, other than a lawyer willing to spend his or her time, a non-lawyer will not "sue him."

With the knowledge that they are safe, the Board is not afraid to do or not do as they please with the chances of legal action minimal. In this case in particular, Greenburgh wins by losing, and Edgemont loses by not being able to defend its school district.

If there ever was a more compelling reason for Edgemont becoming a village, Dromore Road is it! If Edgemont were a village, things like this would not happen. Think about it we can't even defend our own school district...OUR OWN SCHOOL DISTRICT!

Dromore Road is the "firing on Fort Sumter;" "the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand;" "the bombing of Pearl Harbor."

Paul Feiner continues to bite off more than he can chew. Here's hoping Dromore Road finally gives him a stomachache.

Ed Krauss
Edgemont, N.Y.

Does Scarsdale have any interest in joining with Edgemont? Has this ever been discussed?

I agree, Edgemont shouldn't stand on its own separate village. However, I said it should BE PART of Scarsdale. A merger if you will. Greenburgh bleeds this community dry in order to subsidize the rest of that town (dare I bring up Taxter Ridge?).

Now matter how you spin it, taxes will go DOWN if this common sense merger takes place. This is true for Edgemont residents and residents of Scarsdale. In addition, Scarsdale might be able to address their low-income housing issue if they added Edgemont. Its so obvious these two communities belong together even the Post Office calls us all 10583. I realize there is a lot of bickering between the EVEC, the ECC and any other acronym that might be involved in the debate; none of it matters. Doing the right thing for this community is what matters.

There is no question that Edgemont needs better representation within the Town of Greenburgh. The idea of E'mont becoming its own village just doesn't make sense financially, the numbers don't lie. There needs to be another solution. No matter how anyone spins it, taxes would increase significantly in order to have the same services we have today. There are just too many economy of scale benefits we derive from being a part of the ToG. In the last EVEC report it discussed a 30% tax hike, and this was pre-municipal crisis. Between rising employee costs, service costs, etc. the increase in taxes would likely be higher than the 30% they projected several years ago in much better times. As the town (at the ECC's insistence) continues to look at the issue of E'mont becoming its own village, the ECC must recuse themselves from any such discussion as it is clearly one-sided. A committee open to any resident should be formed so that it can paint an accurate picture of the pros and cons of any such decision.

The only logical resolution it to keep our schools and take them to out of Greenburgh and into the Town/Village of Scarsdale. Both communities think the same way and we won't have to deal with Feiner and the mis-management that is Greenburgh.
