Scarsdale 10583

It turns out that Beyonce and Jay-Z have not moved to Scarsdale. A story posted on both PopCrush and the Huffington Post claimed that Beyonce, Jay-Z and Baby Blue Ivy Carter were ensconced in a home on Heathcote Road.  However, several readers noted that the photos shown on PopCrush.com of a large house under construction on Heathcote Road did not belong to the couple - and in fact, according to the Scarsdale tax assessement role, 10A Heathcote Road is owned by another Scarsdale family. News of the Carter's arrival in town spread like wildfire on the internet but turned out to be unfounded.

Possibly the celebrity couple has plans to relocate to a different location in Scarsdale. We certainly hope so -- but for now, there are no confirmed reports of where that might be.

I've heard from a few people that they've been seen in the village. If you don't think owning a $12+ million dollar home classifies you as "uber rich" then you need a serious reality check!

Money magazine just did an analysis of the wealthiest towns in the United States. This was an objective study using annual income from tax returns filed from people that live in all towns to determine the town with the highest per capita income. Scarsdale was found to be the third wealthiest town in the country. Greenwich did not make the top ten list.

This is only speculation on my part, but Greenwich is a much larger community than Scarsdale with many more apartments. I assume that these apartments and condo's bring down the average per capita income.

Greenwich is a few miles away and is every bit a part of the NYC area as is Scarsdale, Great Neck, or Alpine, NJ. Greenwich also happens to be substantially wealthier than Scarsdale. Comparing Scarsdale to Greenwich is like comparing a BMW to a Rolls Royce. The former is clearly inferior.

Scarsdale is not Greenwich, true. But Greenwich is not in New York. Many of us are proud to live in the Empire State. I count Jay Z among us.

It's true hubris to believe that someone with as much money as JayZ would live in Scarsdale. Scarsdale is great for middle level investment bankers and equity partners at large law firms -- not for the uber-rich. It's not Greenwich.
